And the beads go on....

I saw some impressive work entered into the Bead and Button competition.  Just look at these pieces of art using lampwork beads and sculptural elements. I could not get pictures of them all, but I wanted to share what I did manage to get with you.

Silver glass reactions

I did a class with Hayley Tsang Sather, working with silver glass, here are the beads I produced. Finally got the right colour reaction from double helix Clio, or was it Kaylpso? See that lovely pinky-purple.

We also made some silver glass murrini cane. We made fairly long pulls. See the colour layering in the glass cane? Do you like the twist I put into the end of one?

Milwaukee by night

This was the pretty view of Milwaukee I had from my hotel window.

Thinking outside the box

Here is what I started working on in Sherry Serafini's masterclass.

This is taking me much longer than anticpated, as I have had to switch to size 15 beads. The ones that you see in the last picture are size 11, which are bigger than size 15! I made this decision as the piece has a small surface area, and the size 11 beads just seemed too large and out of proportion in comparison to the overall size.
I hate working with size 15 beads, everything takes so long. However, I love the more elegant look you can achieve with this size.

Back with a bang!

Well! I did not expect my summer break to be quite so long. Quite a lot has gone on, so I have a lot of pictures to share with you.

Let's start with my trip to Bead and Button, and my masterclass with my beading icon, Sherry Serafini. She gave an inspirational talk about thinking outside the box, using a whole host of materials, using 3D beadwork, and connecting multiple elements together. Her work is fantastic, and I want to show you some of her gorgeous work that I was lucky enough to see in person.

These pieces make my eyes pop out, my mouth drool, and my fingers itch to get beading.
