Better late than never.

Wishing you seasons greetings, a bit late maybe, but better late than never.
I went past an Xmas food fair, and just loved what they had done with the lights.  Sorry the picture is a little blurry.

Something new

A new experimental style, inspired by the work of Jennifer Geldard, a lampwork artist from the US.
See her work at  www.glassgirl.com.
My favourite of the above beads is the last one, it seems to have a mystical scene peeping through.

How do you relax?

So at lunch time, at work, how do you relax?

Chat with colleagues?

Listen to music?

Read a book?

Check messages on your phone?

Would you consider a unique alternative?

Here is one thing you could do.

Shut out the world, sit back, and chill out!

Snakes on a .................towel!

More beads for the children. (Yes, photographed on a towel).

Eye of the storm

I decided the name of this bead should be RED TORNADO , and then with the opitical silver glass dot there, it seemed even more appropriate.
Showing both sides of the bead. The second picture shows the whirling winds and the eye of the storm in the middle. (The colours are truer in the second picture).

More combos

My latest dichroic and silver glass combinations.

Saturday 10 November 2012

Dichroic and silver glass combos

Dichroic and silver rich glass. A match made in heaven, sometimes in hell. These were the ones that turned out ok. The silver glass is in the murrini (those little flower/anenome like pieces in the beads).

This last one gets its wispy, ethereal look from the silver glass that has been twisted with another glass, before being applied to the core of the bead, and then encased in clear glass to optimise the effect.

Did you notice the background am using for these photos?
Yes, its my hand. Still struggling to get that lovely professional look, so I'll use what seems to work best for me at the moment.

I'm ready for my close up Mr. de Mille

I love the bubbles beads I have been making, and just wanted to share a close up of them with you. Call me a bit of a saddo, but this picture makes me happy.

My precioussssssss

Here are all the beads packed up, and almost ready to go. :)

They go in the post tomorrow.

The ones that got away.

Ok, I'm still on a bead making kick for the children, and have been making little fishies. Here they are.

How much?

Wow, a huge thank you to all my friends and colleagues who sponsored me to make beads for the Be Child Cancer Aware charity. www.bechildcanceraware.org

Your generosity raised   -   £250.00

Thank you very much for supporting me in this endeavour.   XXX

Can you guess?

Can you guess what these are?

Just a little teaser...........

Well they are beads..............

They are representative of something that a lot of men in particular are fond of.........................................................

Some women like them too.....................

They were made at the request of a male aquaintance...........

Any ideas yet?...................................

Shall I tell you?..................................

Shall I show you?..............................

OK, I'll show you.

I think we have various beers, lager and shandy tops there. Something for everyone.  Cheers!

Feeling the glow

I made this bead a while ago.  (I like the lighting I got with this one).

Taking my time

Here are the extra beads I have been making for the Beads of Courage programme. Taking my time over these.
A lot of lovely and generous people have been sponsoring me to make these beads, and I would like to say a big thank you to you all. As you can see they come in three styles - bubbles, faces and aliens.

What can you do in 24 hours?

Well, if you get a few dedicated lampworkers together, working in shifts around the clock, you can make 179 beads for children with cancer. I am proud to say that I was part of that team last weekend. And in spite of getting up at 3.30 am, and feeling less than bright 12 hours later, it was a whole lot of fun.

Check out the charity http://www.bechildcanceraware.org/

Here's a pic of one of the full kilns. How many mandrels can you see sticking out?

Jo ( http://www.kitzbitzartglass.com ) donated her studio space, glass and practically everything else in her studio for us to use. Just look at that lovely full box of twisted glass canes.

Chainsaw + wood = ?

Art. Chainsaw art, all from one piece of a tree trunk.
The detail with such an unwieldy tool is quite incredible.
