Glass galore

I have had a real glassy weekend. I visited a hot glass studio in London, that was hosting a wearable glass exhibition, but there was so much more to see too. I needed a minimum of £10,000 to buy what I wanted. The only trouble is, I would need another million £ to buy a house lovely enough to display all the gorgeous pieces I had. Dream on!

Well, there's lot more to show, but it will be in the next post.

Tricky times

I have been trying to come up with lovely silver glass/reactive glass murrini. This is trickier than its seems. I think I probably work way too hot and cook the colour out of some of the glass I use. I know, I know, I need to be more patient and slow down. Not my strong point.

Well I have run out of time for the murrini challenge and need to send in the best of what I have. So I thought I would share some of my possibilities.

Concrete jungle, mini forest

Outside the Tate Modern, in the middle of concrete and surrounded by tall buildings, is a planting of silver birches, so close together that it looks like a mini forest. Such a beautiful if idiosynchronistic sight.

Art Moderne

I had the chance to go and see the Miro collection at the Tate Modern. It was fascinating to see the way in which his work changed and developed with each decade.

I believe Miro was one of the masters of abstract and surrealism, and there were works there that were reminiscent of other artists i am more familiar with, for example Dali, and Pollack. I do not know a lot about modern art, maybe that is why a lot of the pieces just left me puzzled.

However, I wanted to share with you the flat painting on the floor, which gave an optical illusion of depth. That I could understand, sort of.

Body parts?

This bead has a lovely soft peachy colour. But in this picture is reminds me of intestines.
This could open up the possibility of a whole series of beads based on body parts.
Not sure there will be much demand!

What's new

Some silver rich glass beads. Simple but very pretty.
