Experiementing

I was asked to come up with an owl and pussycat combo. Here's how they came out.

(I know that they are not perfect, but I was pretty pleased for my first attempt at this style).

Stripes and more stripes.

A colleague asked me if it was possible to make a set of beads in black and white that could be used in their hair. I was happy with the way these zebra beads turned out.

All wired up!

My bead group is full of talented beaders, and I look forward to meeting up with them each month.
One of my beading buddies has made a unique piece of jewellery by combining one of my beads , with wire. The results speak for themselves.

This is in the style of ...............

........................ pandora beads.

A friend bought some of my big hole beads and made it into this.
Fabulous darling!

A passion for purple

My friends daughter wants purple beads for her 21st birthday present. I sat down and played with the different purple glass hues I had. Now I have to find out if earrings, bracelet or necklace are her preference. Or will that be all three?

A bit of bling

I made the beads in the morning. That evening they were begging to be made into something. This bit of bling is the result.

New stuff

My friend lent me a glass press, that makes big beads in a large chunky lentil shape (it takes nearly 3 rods of glass to fill it). Here's what I made with its help. These beads are heavy!

Pin or brooch? It's still a fibula.

Means the same thing doesn't it. Here's what I made for a friends birthday.

Ready for a few more?

Here's something I prepared earlier.

Naturally sloe

Picking, looking and enjoying.

Thursday 22 September 2011

Holy cow, that's not a cow!

Me and hubby went sloe picking. It almost didn't happen. We had to cross a field with a herd of cows in them. Anyone who knows me well, will know that I am not comfortable around animals. I'm a real city girl, who has never had a pet.
Now cows are big, and they take notice of you, and come over to investigate. So we started walking across the field, no problem. Then we got close to a mother and calf, and one of the cows (without udders) got twitchy. It was at that point I realised that there were bulls in the herd. This huge black fella started gambolling over to us, snorting through its nose, warning us away from mum and baby. We turned and started back to the gate fast. Ruddy hell, it was so far away! I had visions of being trampled underfoot, and my heart was beating so hard and fast it made me feel sick.
We got out, and it was my hubby who was nearly sick from laughing so hard. You can go off people very quickly!!!!!!!!!!!!

A little less than a while ago

I had fun taking my aunt out to one of the few true haberdashery shops left in London. They also do art and craft supplies. My aunt who is a bit of a clown, had to try on one of the masks. The lady behind her was obviously thinking the two of us were a bit strange.

A while ago

The glass bead fair in Stourbridge at the Bonded Warehouse. I went along to support GBUK (www.gbuk.org.uk)

Pics of the building, people getting ready and some of Min Fidler's animal beads. Yep, I had to buy one. And her gorgeous ring that she would not sell to me. You can check out her website here http://www.applegreenmachine.co.uk/

Coming soon

OK, I know that there has not been much going on recently, but I do have a few more things to show and tell. (Where's that camera got to?)

See you later.........................................

A fistful of mandrels

Well after a short hiatus with no internet access, I'm back to show you what I managed to make in one productive session.

Genius at work

There were times I forgot to breathe watching Di East work her magic. This simplified version of her paperweight (featured in the previous post), took 3+ hours to make.

Wednesday 17 August 2011

Amazing

Di East is a genius with glass. Everyone was blown away by her paperweight.
Whoops, fingerprints are showing.

Here's looking at it in daylight and at night. Absolutely fabulous.
